Swedish Massage - the most commonly practiced form of massage in western countries that incorporates a variety of techniques specifically designed to relax muscles by applying pressure to them against the deeper muscles and bones, and rubbing them in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart via the venous system. Its purpose is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles.
Swe-Thai - originally developed by Margie Meshew, an Award Winning Teacher and veteran LMT in South Florida; Swe-Thai is an innovative style of massage that combines the eastern methods of Yoga style stretching, penetrating forearm techniques and the outstanding bio-mechanics of Traditional Thai massage with the fluidity of Swedish Massage which is an absolute breakthrough in the treatment of general neck and back ailments all done with comfort on a traditional massage table.
Esalen Massage - a unique method of massage using long continuous head to toe sweeping body strokes traditionally using forearms. The body is treated as a whole, not in parts and brings together a physical and energetic connection between the client and masseur in a very spiritual manner.
Deep Tissue - is a general term for a range of therapies that work to unstick the body connective tissues and / or muscles to encourage them to function properly again. Slow strokes and deep finger pressure on areas of the body suffering from chronic muscle tension or areas that simply ache or feel contracted. Deep tissue massage is especially effective for removing knots and releasing tension stored in the muscles. Deep tissue massage is a more thorough, strenuous massage technique that may induce slight pain as the muscles are worked free of tension with muscular relief soon to follow.
Trigger Point -otherwise known as Myotherapy applies pressure to specific points (knots) on the body to relieve tension. Trigger points are tender, congested spots on muscle tissue that my radiate pain to other areas.
Stretch Therapy-active assisted stretching along with (ROM) range of motion- whereby the therapist with the involvement of the client assists in a mechanical method of pulling connective tissue to reduce tensile stress and elongate areas of connective tissue shortening which facilitates pliability. These applications are integrated throughout the massage. This modality is may be requested by the client at an extra cost over and above the normal fee of the massage and will add an extra 15-20 min to the length of the normal session.
